1861: May 11-July 11: The Journey West to Minnesota and back.

Tuesday, May 21, 1861:  From Detroit, Michigan, to Chicago, Illinois, by train. They stayed at the Metropolitan Hotel, at the corner of Randolph and Wells Streets.  [It was destroyed in the Great Fire of 1871.]
